Noticings

How Noticings treats your classroom's information

This page is written for a teacher or a principal, not a lawyer. It describes how the product is built. Works the way careful teachers already work.

Audio is never saved

When you record an observation, the transcription happens on your phone. The moment the transcript exists, the recording is discarded. There is no audio file — not on the device, not on a server. What's kept is the sentence you said, as text.

Students are first name and last initial only

The roster accepts a first name and a last initial — “Emma L.” — and nothing more. There is no field for a last name, a birthday, or a photo, so they can't be collected by accident.

Real names never reach the AI

When Noticings drafts report comments, each child's name is swapped for a token before anything leaves your phone. The AI drafts around the tokens; the names are put back on your device. The service that writes the draft never sees who it's about.

Your data lives in Canada

Notes sync between you and your teaching partner through servers located in Canada.

The waitlist email is the one exception

If you gave us your email to hear about launch, that address is not classroom data and it is not kept with any. It sits on its own in a Cloudflare D1 database, which is not in Canada — that residency promise is about student information, and a teacher's work email is not student information.

We store three things: the address, the moment it arrived, and which part of the page the form was in. Not your IP address, not your browser. We use it once — to tell you Noticings has launched — and for nothing else. Write to hello@noticingsapp.com and we'll delete it.

Export or delete everything, any time

One tap exports all of your notes as a file you keep. A year-end reset erases the classroom's data completely. Your documentation is yours to take or erase — no request forms, no waiting.

What we never store

— Raw audio — Last names — Birthdays — Photos or video — Health information — Parent contact info

A formal privacy policy and terms of service are coming before launch. This page describes how the product is built. Questions? Write to us — a person answers.
